Specialty Camps & Extras

You don’t need to add a thing.

A regular week at YMCA Camp Immokalee is already packed with the good stuff. Swimming, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, zipline, archery, meals, and a whole lot more are included in the cost of camp. Some kids (not many kids) add to their camp experience with a specialty camp or extra.

Here’s the thing: Specialty Camps aren’t how you get access to our best activities. All kids get access to our best activities. Making sure that camp is accessible and incredible for all kids is our number one priority. AND there are sometimes kids who want something a little different. That’s what this page is for.

Your camper’s not missing out by not adding one.

More info below!

Ranch Camp

Ages: 8-14

Price: $300

When It’s Offered: All Weeklong Camps

Ranch Campers spend at least three hours a day out at Ranch Immokalee, where they get the whole barn experience, from catching and grooming to tacking and riding. And yes, that includes barn chores and horse care, too. It’s part of the horse experience, after all!

Campers build their riding skills throughout the week, learn what it actually takes to care for horses, and head out on a guided trail ride before the week is over.

All skill levels are welcome. Our Ranch staff meet campers where they are and help them build from there. For one camper, that might mean trying a trot by the end of the week. Another might leave Ranch Camp still happiest and most confident at a walk. Both will have a great week at Ranch Camp.

Looking for SOME horses but not full Ranch Camp?

Your camper doesn’t have to make horses a big part of their week to get in the saddle. We also offer trail rides as a one-time experience.

Trail Ride

Campers head out on the trail for a relaxed ride, with horses walked or guided by our Ranch staff along the way.

No riding experience needed.

Ages: All at camp

Price: $25 Trail Ride

When It’s Offered: All Weeklong Camps

Already registered to ride?

Make sure your camper packs long pants and closed-toe boots or shoes with a heel. We’ll send you a reminder before camp, too, so you don’t have to remember this until then.

Water Sports

Ages: 10-14

Price: $300

When It’s Offered: All Weeklong Camps

Water Sports Campers hit the lake twice a day for kneeboarding, wakeboarding, and a whole lot of extra time behind the boat. With just 10 campers, there’s plenty of time to try, fall, try again, and eventually spend a little more time on top of the water than in it.

All skill levels are welcome. Your camper doesn’t need to know how to kneeboard or wakeboard before camp. Some kids will be trying to get up for the first time, while others will pick up where they left off last summer.

And no, you don’t need Water Sports Camp for the regular lake stuff. Swimming, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and plenty of waterfront time are already part of a week at Immokalee. Water Sports Camp is for the kid who wants more boat.

Is a Specialty Camp Right for Your Camper?

Ask them this:

Would you still want to do it if none of your friends signed up and you knew you’d miss some other camp activities while you were there?

If the answer is an immediate yes, go for it. If they’re not sure, skip it. A regular week at Immokalee is already a whole lot of camp.

One important thing: Make this decision together. Specialty Camps are nonrefundable once your camper arrives at camp. We don’t want them finding out at check-in that you signed them up for three hours a day at the barn.

How to Add a Specialty Camp or Extra

Already registered for overnight camp? You can add a Specialty Camp or Trail Ride through your registration account.

Not registered yet? You’ll have the chance to add one while registering for your camper’s week.

Campers can choose one Specialty Camp or Extra per session: Ranch Camp, Water Sports Camp, or a Trail Ride.

If It’s Full

Our Specialty Camps are small on purpose, and unfortunately, we can’t find a few more horses or make the boat any bigger. If the one your camper wants is full, join the waitlist online through your account or email us at cimmokalee@fcymca.org.

If another camper cancels and a spot opens, that’s when your chance happens. We’ll contact families in waitlist order, so there’s no need to call or email to check in. If we can get your camper in, we’ll find you.
