Summer Day Camp at YMCA Camp Immokalee

All-day summer childcare, done the camp way: outside, active, and built by a real camp.

For families who need coverage and want their kids to have a great summer.

What Makes This Different

Yes, there are free summer programs. Some families love them.
Ours is different on purpose.

At Camp Immokalee Day Camp, kids spend most of their day outside. Not rotating between rooms. Not staring at screens. Actually moving, playing, exploring, and doing real camp things.

That means days filled with:

  • games under the oaks
  • time at the lake
  • camp-style activities you can’t do in a gym
  • and the kind of tired that comes from a good day, not a long one

It also means water safety is built into the program. Campers who need swim support get lessons as part of their day, at no extra cost. Because this is a camp, not just a place to spend the hours.

This is still childcare. We’re honest about that.
It just happens to be childcare that feels like summer should.

Water Safety is Part of the Program

If your camper is spending time around a lake, water safety shouldn’t be an add-on. It should be built in.

At day camp, every camper is assessed, and kids who need swim support get water safety instruction as part of their regular day. No extra fee. No separate sign-up. It’s just part of how we run camp.

Some campers are already strong swimmers and spend their water time playing and practicing skills. Others are still building confidence. Those campers rotate through small-group water safety and swim instruction focused on comfort, skills, and safe habits around water.

We do this because:

  • Kids are safer when they’re taught, not just supervised
  • Confidence in the water changes how kids experience camp
  • And it’s a life skill that matters well beyond one summer

This is one of the big differences between “a place to spend the day” and a real camp program. We don’t just watch kids near the water. We teach them how to be safe in it.

What a Day Looks Like

Campers arrive, meet up with their group, and head straight into activities. Most of the day is spent outside moving, playing, and doing camp things. Groups rotate through games, camp activities, and lake time, with water safety and swim support built in where needed.

There’s time for lunch, shade, and water breaks, and then it’s back out for more of the good stuff. By pick-up, most kids are tired, happy, and full of stories that start with, “So we were playing this game…”

It’s structured enough to be safe and predictable, and flexible enough to still feel like summer.

FAQs

What are drop-off and pick-up times?

Drop-off is 7:00–8:45am. Pick-up is 5:00–6:00pm.
You can always pick up early. If it’s before 5:00pm, please give us a heads up so we can get your camper back from activities smoothly.

What if I’m late for pick-up?

Late pick-up is $1 per minute, per camper.

Is Day Camp really outside all day? What about weather?

We’re outside most of the day, with shade and some indoor spaces available. If weather is extreme, we move campers to the safest place and adjust the schedule.

Do you provide meals?

Yes. We provide breakfast and lunch each day.

What should my camper bring each day?

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Closed-toed shoes
  • An extra change of clothes
  • Water bottle

My child isn’t a strong swimmer. Can they still come?

Yes. Safety comes first. Campers who need extra support wear life jackets, and swimmers in our red group are required to wear a life jacket in the pool as well. Water safety instruction is built into the day.

Do you give medication or handle medical needs?

We try not to, but we can when necessary with a completed form. We handle basic first aid at camp. For anything more, we’ll contact a parent or guardian.

What are your behavior expectations?

Campers need to be safe, keep others safe, and be able to participate in a group without frequent one-on-one support.

Can I change weeks or cancel?

Yes, week changes are fine if there’s space.
Cancellations after May 1 will forfeit the deposit.

Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Financial assistance is available through the Y.

Who do I contact with questions?

Email our team at cimmokalee@fcymca.org and we’ll get you to the right person.
