Teen Leadership at YMCA Camp Immokalee

At YMCA Camp Immokalee, the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is a chance for teens to grow as leaders, guide younger campers, and enjoy all the excitement of camp from a new perspective. Designed for rising 11th and 12th graders during the summer and rising 10th graders and up during the off-season, the CIT program is an opportunity to make a real impact while building skills for the future.

This is a competitive, application-based program, and with more applications than we can accept each year, it’s important to apply early if you’re ready to take on this leadership role.

What You’ll Gain as a CIT

In the CIT program, you’ll get hands-on experience in leadership by working with camp counselors, guiding younger campers, and helping to run activities. It’s not just about helping—it’s about leading by example, learning new skills, and becoming a role model for the next generation of campers.

Why Apply?

  • Hands-on Leadership Experience: Gain leadership skills that will set you apart on resumes and college applications.
  • Mentorship Opportunities: Guide younger campers and help shape their camp experience.
  • Confidence Building: Grow your teamwork and communication skills, helping you succeed both in camp and beyond.
  • Fun and Friendship: You’ll connect with other CITs and campers, building friendships while enjoying all the fun camp activities.

Application Process

Applying to the CIT program is competitive. Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: Fill out the application form and submit by March 15.
  • Step 2: Applications will be reviewed based on leadership potential, enthusiasm for camp, and past experience.
  • Step 3: Acceptance emails will be sent out the week of April 1.

With limited spots available, we encourage you to apply early and showcase your best self!
