Our Story

Over a Century of Changing Lives

Since 1909, YMCA Camp Immokalee has helped campers get outside, make new friends, and try new things. After all this time, our goal remains the same: to help everyone that comes through our gates grow in spirit, mind, and body.

Whether you have been a camper at Immokalee or this will be your first time coming through our gates, we consider you family.  We are glad you have chosen to help us continue our legacy and make another century of life-changing adventures.

Mission Statement

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Our Association

The Y is a powerful association of men, women, and children from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nation’s health and well-being and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

Our Impact

The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.  Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child, and when a community comes together for the common good.

Our Philosophy

The vision of YMCA Camp Immokalee is to serve a diverse community and to build spirit, mind, and body through a unique combination of Summer Camp, Outdoor Education, Conference and Local Community Programs. Our goal is that each camper and program participant leaves our camp a better person than when they arrived, and campers are set on the path to do the right things and contribute to a better world as they continue to grow. The core values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility permeate our programs and activities. These strong, positive character strengths are exemplified by our staff for our campers and guests.

Caring

To love others, to be sensitive to the well-being of others, and to help others.

At Camp Immokalee, we understand the importance of a caring environment. An environment that fosters positive behavior, supportive relationships, and a place where learning can flourish.

Honesty

To tell the truth, to act in such a way that you are worthy of trust, to have integrity; making sure your choices match your values.

Honesty builds strength of character that will allow you to be of great service to God and others. It blesses us with peace of mind and self-respect. Honesty and integrity produce trust – trust in ourselves and in all those around us. Trust in turn produces confidence, which we all need to conquer life’s obstacles.

Respect

To treat others as you would have them treat you; to value the worth of every person, including yourself.

We show respect by considering and taking seriously other peoples’ feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and needs. By listening to others, being truthful with them, acknowledging them, and accepting their uniqueness, we show that we value them.

Responsibility

To do what is right and be accountable for your behavior and obligations.

At Camp Immokalee, we foster individuality and provide many opportunities for our kids to practice decision making and  grow with the guidance of their counselors. Once our youth begin to understand that they are able to influence their future through decisions and actions, they become the masters of their own full potential.
