Ready to take on a new challenge this summer? At YMCA Camp Immokalee, our North Florida Teen Leadership Program is designed for teens in grades 10-12 who are eager to learn, lead, and grow. As a Counselor-in-Training (CIT), you’ll get hands-on experience leading activities, mentoring younger campers, and working alongside our staff—all while still enjoying the fun of camp.
Why This Program is Perfect for You
If you’re looking to lead, this program offers a unique opportunity to build leadership skills in a real-world environment. You’ll live in cabins with younger campers, guide activities like archery, arts & crafts, and sports, and help create a vibrant camp community. Plus, you’ll be part of a supportive team that values your contributions.
What to Expect
Program Structure: CITs transition from campers to leaders, working closely with counselors to manage activities and daily camp life.
Training: Our CITs meet with CIT coordinators to develop leadership and social-emotional learning skills.
Commitment: This isn’t just a job—it’s a summer of growth. You’ll need to commit to the full session and be ready to take on responsibility.
Application Process
To apply for the CIT program, teens must meet specific requirements depending on the program:
Summer CITs: Open to rising 11th and 12th graders. Applicants must submit an application, including a letter of reference (for first-time CITs).
Off-Season CITs: Open to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The process is similar, requiring an application, payment of the program fee, and a commitment to the full program duration. No letter of recommendation is needed.
This application process mirrors a job application, providing valuable experience in professionalism and responsibility.
